Storing food is an essential human cultural technique for thousands of years.
The growing conciousness for nutrition in our modern times requires a new thinking about old techniques and scenarios for storing food. Caused by factors like short space,
a lack of awareness and daily hectic many groceries get lost by improper storing. Certain food needs certain microclimatic conditions – time to reintegrate those spaces
in the urban kitchen.
Bread for example needs a certain microclimate for good storing: Not too humid, not too dry, in a dark place and not too cold. Recent bread storage solutions have deficencies concerning material, hygenic aspects, in space saving or asthetic qualities. Traditional bread pots made from porous ceramic offer a perfect climate. This ability was taken in form of ceramic tiles which are easier to produce. In addition they are also more universal and space saving due to their rectangular form.
The ceramic tiles are hold by a frame made of powder-coated metal and can easily be removed for cleaning or replacing. The light ceramic gets contrasted by carbonised bamboo which offers more hygienic advantages and naturality. The high edge design with the front end lid offers optimal space utilization by additional storage space on top. The lid doubles as cutting board for the bread. The diagonal arrangement of the bamboo texture and the holes for taking up crumbs contrasts the box-like shape.
